John Derbyshire, of National Review (http://www.nationalreview.com/derbyshire/derbyshire200409220839.asp), responded to my e-mailed question to him.

I had asked (briefly): “But Zogby has been relentlessly accurate during the last few cycles.

So, what am I missing? Why the weird jump in Kerry's poll numbers (or at least his electoral vote numbers)? Or am I getting this wrong. And, if so, how?”

The Derb responds:
“Beats me, Ken. I suspect it's to do with the rise of Iraq as an election issue. It can only help Kerry, and he seems to have woken up to that.”
