Infidel Wantonly Celebrates Kafur New Year
SEATTLE 31 December 2006 (al-Reuters) Mohamed al-Tikrit bin-Azole al-Arabiya bin-ABBA Reporting
The vile infidel propagandist for Allah-damned blogsite Digitus Impudicus has been reported preparing to celebrate in Forbidden Ways the kafur "holiday" known as New Year's Eve - as if this "new year" won't see the appearance of the 12th Imam who will bring Glorious Destruction to the Infidel Crusader Zionist Thieves, Pigs, Dogs and Apes of the cursed West.
Word on the Arab Street has it that Drinks-Which-Are-Not-Permitted will be consumed in large quantities by this camel-rejecting Mastermind of Evil. And, scandal upon scandal, loud music is to be played - the lyrics of which are most definitely not permitted by Allah (PBHN). But most chilling of all are the rumors that women will be present! And - shivers - they will not be wearing burkas!
We are expecting photos of this Sacrilege from Associated Press soon, but Abdul isn't finished photoshopping them yet, so you will have to wait, dhimmi.
We fully expect this devil to make a camel's ass (hmmm, uh, never mind) out of himself, and we will be the first to report it when he does.
So, Allah Akbar, kafur. And remember: how many mujahadeen does does it take to land a plane?
None! Ahahahaha!
And now for something completely different - kind of a year-end bonus brought to you by Digitus Impudicus via his non-burka-wearing distaff offspring:

“Overwhelming Sense of Sadness”
Sometimes I feel like giving up. It’s now nearly impossible to parody Leftists. Here I was, thinking I was being a clever, world-class smartass by offering “counseling services” and links to suicide prevention hotlines in anticipation of the “mourning” I sarcastically expected from the Left. Oh well.
Via LGF I found a link to some commentary by a Daily Kos Leftist, expressing... Aw heck with it, I’ll just let this lunatic speak for himself. (emphasis added)
You really, really can’t make this shit up.
"We destroyed Saddam Hussein’s life." "What will we do to the war profiteers who had a hand in murdering our own children for a few dollars?"
I guess we're due a heaping dollop of moral equivalence here. First, "we" didn't destroy Hussein's life in that "we" didn't execute him. As much as the Left hates democracy when democracy does things that they don't like, the fact is that the democratic government of Iraq decided what they wanted with him - their tribunal, their sentencing, their execution. We deposed him - they hanged him. But I suppose it strokes something hateful in the Leftist heart to blame America for this. It's not as if Hussein's execution was a "done deal," either - the president of Iraq refused to sign the death warrant, and it was left to one of his deputies to do so.
"We hunted them down like animals and slaughtered them without dignity. "
It was only a matter of time before the Left "went native" in this war. Now they're taking on yet another aspect of the primitivist culture in the Middle East: the "dignity cult." Where are the lofty words of compassion for the countless women who were raped by Saddam's misbegotten offspring? Did the Left howl in rage over the many women who were used by his sons, raped, then had acid thrown in their faces? What about the "dignity" of the Iraqi national soccer team members who were horribly tortured when they failed to perform up to Uday's expectations?
No. As is usually the case, the Left's compassion is highly selective: only reserved for those the West in general, and the US in particular, have assaulted. Mutilated Iraqi women and athletes are of no concern. Not when there's a chance to savage America. And every remaining compassion is to be reserved for butchers the Left actually admires, whether that be Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot or Joseph Stalin.
Butchery and murder are understandable, as long as they're practiced by America's enemies. Small wonder I "question their patriotism."
I leave this post with one more quote, and my thoughts on it.
"We destroyed Saddam Hussein’s history. We went in to his village, his tribe, and we wiped away the footsteps of his lineage. We made sure that Saddam Hussein knows that everything about him, who he was, where he came from has ended. We turned him around and made him watch his footsteps in the sand, watch them disappear as the ocean washed over them. As a man who has reached middle age I feel an emptiness inside of me when I think of this – to watch yourself slowly disappear."
So much dripping sympathy in one paragraph. I'm forced to ask, what about the footsteps of the hundreds of thousands of young men and women "wiped away" by Saddam and his minions? What of the mass graves filled with men, women and children who have had their futures ripped from them? What about those Saddam murdered who never had a chance to make footprints of their own?

An overwhelming sense of sadness
by wilbur
Fri Dec 29, 2006 at 09:59:02 PM PST
I have just read that Saddam Hussein is dead. Hung by the neck until dead – isn’t that the phrase they always use on television? And I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness. Everybody has to start by saying that it isn’t bad that Saddam Hussein is dead – he was an evil man. But what is evil? It is a religious denunciation, a way to set a person apart from humanity. We need to do this I suppose. And if we say that Saddam Hussein is an evil man, don’t we then have to say that other men are good? Who is good I wonder? Where do we find these men of goodness? To say Saddam Hussein was evil is too easy, it lets us off the hook. Saddam Hussein was a cruel man, a selfish man, a desperate man, a sad man.
* wilbur's diary :: ::
He was a bully I think. He was a man who never knew happiness I think. He rationalized his actions I’m sure by saying that he did what had to be done. He called his own enemies evil, and tortured them completely. Saddam Hussein was all too human. He walked among us. In this moment of spiritual limbo between Christmas and the start of a new year I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness.
I feel sadness because we repaid cruelty with cruelty. We did it because we allowed an emotionally disturbed man to lead us, to direct our actions. We destroyed Saddam Hussein’s life. This was perhaps justified. Do we destroy every cruel man’s life? Is it our duty to destroy every cruel man’s life? Still, it was not less than he deserved. Take away his livelihood. What will we do to the war profiteers who had a hand in murdering our own children for a few dollars? Will we be as angry, as cruel?
We killed his children while he was still alive. We hunted them down like animals and slaughtered them without dignity. As a father I will say no human deserves this. Once we have reached this level of cruelty it has gone beyond repayment. It has become something visceral, something deep within our souls that we usually try to hide, even from ourselves. But we felt no shame. We celebrated this cruelty, cheered it and broadcast it to the world. Who gave us this lisence I wonder? Now that this Pandora's box is open, will we be able to close it?
We destroyed Saddam Hussein’s history. We went in to his village, his tribe, and we wiped away the footsteps of his lineage. We made sure that Saddam Hussein knows that everything about him, who he was, where he came from has ended. We turned him around and made him watch his footsteps in the sand, watch them disappear as the ocean washed over them. As a man who has reached middle age I feel an emptiness inside of me when I think of this – to watch yourself slowly disappear. It was an insane, almost psychotic cruelty. It was my society that not only did this, but cheered this – we were beating a dog over and over again because he bit us, making him yelp, humiliating him so he no longer had an identity, so that he was an empty shell. And when we knew he was an empty shell, we kept beating, our eyes on fire, snot dripping from our nose, wheezing under the strain of our constant blows. The dog had bitten somebody – he must be made to pay. Nobody regrets what we are doing – because he was a junkyard dog who attacked others.
We put Saddam Hussein on trial and we jeered him, and we could not even mention his name without saying he deserved what he gets. We stood him up for mockery before the world. We took a bully and showed the world that he is weak and that we are strong. We made fun of him, jabbed with sticks through the bars of his cage. There was nothing left of him, but we kept jabbing anyway, at that empty shell. The snarling junkyard dog was gone and what was left was the frightened, desperate inner core. And yet we kept jabbing at it. He had bitten others you know. He had shown cruelty. We couldn’t stop, we would put the jabbing on the morning news for our viewing pleasure. There was nothing human left – his eyes were empty. He was confused, no longer able to comprehend what was happening to him. We all could see it – it was impossible not to. He was like a hospice patient we were propping up and kicking and slapping because - we had long since lost any sense of reason for this. We didn’t even ask ourselves why anymore. It had become a bizarre habit, a fetish of sorts. I would pour my corn flakes, and turn on CNN, and get my daily dose of jabbing what was once Saddam Hussein with a stick. I couldn’t even really remember who he was.
And I come in here tonight and surf on my computer and the first information I get is that Saddam Hussein was hung by the neck until dead. I don’t think we put him out of his misery. I believe he left misery behind long ago. We had taken it from him, because misery was too good for this man – we wanted something more. But he was human – he had dreams, he had aspirations, I am sure. He did kind things sometimes, I am sure. But yes he was a cruel man – funny I felt obligated to say that. I am wondering if Saddam Hussein’s execution will put me out of my misery. Not tonight – because tonight I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness.
You really, really can’t make this shit up.

I Don't Wanna Hear...
...any carping about my sarcasm regarding the Left's fondness for Saddam Hussein. At least not after CNN's website memorial tribute page to him.
For a while they even had a section on Saddam's family photos. How effing touching.

Always the First. Always
That's our motto here at Digitus Impudicus, and in that light I am proud to announce that I have acquired the only existing Internet copy of the bootleg Saddam Execution videotape. I'd like to discuss how I acquired this scoop, but that'd be revealing Methods and Sources, and I'd have to hunt you all down if you actually read it.
So, without further ado... ( Graphic Content!)

Saddam Hussein Executed
(0) comments
Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti, former dictator of Iraq, was executed today in Baghdad by the government of Iraq. This is subsequent to his conviction and sentencing for the mass killings of inhabitants of the village of Dujail in 1982 after a failed assassination attempt against him.
...
In response, many Peace organizations are planning counseling sessions for distraught Leftists and anti-American mourners throughout Europe and the United States. In addition, another Global Orgasm for Peace is being planned in protest of Hussein's execution - which is generally seen by left-of-center advocates as an affront to good taste and a conspiracy masterminded by Dick Cheney and Halliburton.
As a service of Digitus Impudicus, we are offering a direct link to the Suicide Hotline, should any of our Leftist readers feel they just can't go on anymore. Alternatively, we suggest this link for one-way travel plans from Seattle to Vancouver, BC.

Danny Bonaduce Bitch-Slaps Seditious 9/11 Conspiracy Ghoul
Can nobody sit and eat lunch quietly anymore? I mean, without being accosted by a cordon of ne’er-do-wells, street trash, perverts, religious freaks and 9/11 Conspiracy Moonbats? Apparently not if you’re Danny Bonaduce.
But that which does not kill you makes you stronger. Or at least I think Danny’s managed to handle the situation. So check it out:
Go Danny go!! Haha. I love how he leaned over to the woman next to him and pre-excused his (well-deserved) tirade. Second best part was when the Ghoul informed Danny that a book would “enlighten” him (thuggish arrogance, thy name is John Conner). Third best was the surprise evident when the Ghoul did not, in fact, get the ra-ra from a Hollywood celebrity. Like he was expecting.
I give it a 3-1/2 out of 5 on the Kick-Ass O’ Meter.

New York Times: al-Jazeera on the Hudson
(scroll down for updates)
Not content with spilling secret information to our enemies, the New York Times now bemoans the execution of murderous former dictator Saddam Hussein. But even that’s not enough.
I guess they haven’t damaged the United States enough lately; so a little slander was in order.
Let’s compare and contrast, shall we?
This is Iraq with Saddam
This is Iraq without Saddam
So, again, the Left (in the guise of the New York Times) doesn't know a dictator they don't adore, a people who's suffering they can't overlook - as long as it suits their political ends, and a good American deed they can't scorn.
I think we've found Saddam's Weapon of Mass Destruction: Pinch Sulzberger.
UPDATE
Mike, over at Cold Fury expresses his condolences to the Moonbats.

What might have been a watershed now seems another lost opportunity. After nearly four years of war and thousands of American and Iraqi deaths, it is ever harder to be sure whether anything fundamental has changed for the better in Iraq.(emphasis added)

Condolences to slackjawed drooling idiots like Michael Moore and other Western liberals, who continue to insist that Iraqis were better off back when the monster was feeding them into plastic shredders and gassing them to death with those nonexistent WMDs. I know how devastating this must be for you.

Reuters’ Bias Strikes Again.
In their Year In Pictures slideshow, our friends at Reuters have a seriously diminished sense of irony. In one picture they show a half-dozen Mexicans riding a rail car, heading for the US/Mexican border. Here’s part of the caption (emphasis added)
On the very next picture in the slideshow they show an African who has just arrived, via a perilous boat journey, in Spain. And here’s part of the caption for this image:
So, I guess when a foreigner violates a country’s laws by crossing the boarder into that country without proper authorization, he’s either an “undocumented migrant” or an “illegal immigrant,” depending on whether it’s the US or Spain.
Ah, well. I think I’ll suggest that the Reuters “news” service be highlighted on the next episode of Mythbusters.

Immigrants travel on a cargo train heading to the border city of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, May 5, 2006. Every day Mexican trains are used by immigrants to cross the country, heading for the border between Mexico and United States. The U.S. Border Patrol said on Wednesday it had arrested 724,613 undocumented migrants crossing the 2,000-mile (3,200-km) border from Mexico since October 1 last year, a rise of 6 percent from the same period a year earlier.
On the very next picture in the slideshow they show an African who has just arrived, via a perilous boat journey, in Spain. And here’s part of the caption for this image:
A would-be immigrant crawls after his arrival on a makeshift boat on the Gran Tarajal beach in Spain's Canary Island, May 5, 2006. The scene on Gran Tarajal beach was a stark, unforgiving reminder of the desperation that drives people to leave their homes and loved ones and cross dangerous seas for unknown shores. Nearly 10,000 illegal immigrants from Africa have arrived this year in the Canary Islands -- a palm-fringed sunseekers' haven and outpost of Europe off Africa's coast.
So, I guess when a foreigner violates a country’s laws by crossing the boarder into that country without proper authorization, he’s either an “undocumented migrant” or an “illegal immigrant,” depending on whether it’s the US or Spain.

Fox is now reporting that Saddam has been handed over to the Iraqi government and that all the paperwork has been completed. According to an Iraqi MP, the execution will happen, "soon."
Saddam Handed Over To Iraqi Government
Until now, Saddam Hussein had been in US custody because there were worries that a breakout attempt would happen. Story here.
What this means, of course, is that time’s about up for the Dictator Formerly Known as the President of Iraq. When this mass murderer swings, and combining that with his two vile sons, I guess that makes a hat-trick, right?
When the news comes down I will have to make a point of tipping back a cold one. Yes, to celebrate.
My only question is, how many Leftists are going to weep openly over this? I mean, their poster child will no longer be a player.
Oh, and by the way, remember when those Saddam fans we have here in the US claimed we’d never get him? One more bad grade on their Prediction Report Card, I guess.

It’s Lonely At The Bottom
I know somebody, a vet, who insists that the majority of the US Military opposes President G.W. Bush, and really supports left-wing political personalities like, oh say John F. Kerry.
Okay, stop laughing.
Anyhow, despite the fact that this flies in the face of polling data, personal experience and just plain ol’ common sense (not to mention actual reality), I thought I’d add the following piece of entirely anecdotal evidence to the “debate” over this.
Here’s John Kerry sitting in the mess hall at the US embassy in Iraq, during his recent trip. See anything odd? What I see is Kerry essentially sitting alone. According to the servicemember who took the photo:
Sen. Kerry found himself all alone while he was over here. He canceled his press conference because no one came, he worked out alone in the gym w/o any soldiers even going up to say hi or ask for an autograph (I was one of those who was in the gym at the same time), and he found himself eating breakfast with only a couple of folks who are obviously not troops.
What is amazing is Bill O'Reilly came to visit with us and the troops at the CSH the same day and the line for autographs extended through the palace and people waited for two hours to shake his hand. You decide who is more respected and loved by us servicemen and women!
Ah yes, but we mustn’t forget how beloved this man is by our military personnel. I mean who couldn’t love somebody who has built his career out of slandering you regularly over the course of several decades?

Merry Koranic Christmas
Daily Kos outdid it self on Christmas Eve. The Left, having found a religion it actually likes (mostly because some of its representatives killed almost 3,000 “little Eichmanns” on 9/11) continues its dhimmi-like contortions with this little foray into bizarre PC Dreamland.
Oh, verily. Mary receives “much more attention” in the Koran than in the Bible. Just another example of how brutally misogynistic those rat-bastard Christians are. Well, except for the fact that Christians don’t have much in the way of support for the torture-murder of women who have been raped.

“Remember when the angels said, ‘O Mary! truly God has chosen thee, and purified thee, and chosen thee above all the women of the worlds!’”
...
Though this story seems familiar to many Christians, odds are they've never read this version. This is the annunciation to Mary, as told in the Quran. Mary receives much more attention in the Quran than in the New Testament. In fact, her immaculate conception is mentioned in the Quran, but not in the Bible. Merry Christmas. (DT)

Allah Hates Women
How else to explain the blatant misogyny inherent to The Religion of Peace™?
Don’t believe me? Okay, you asked for it.
The following is taken from an article posted by Amil Imani, an Iranian-American writer for the American Thinker. (hat tip Michelle Malkin)
Well, gee, dad, thanks for the okay on that one.
Personally, I wish Allah had forbidden contact between men and women. That way they’d frickin’ not reproduce and we’d be rid of the last vestiges of the Neanderthals once and for all. And good riddance.
Am I insensitive? Am I religiously bigoted? Do I fail to exhibit an appropriate understanding of this part of the Multicultural Rainbow?
You bet yer ass.

Qur'an 4:11Had enough? No? Okay, here’s Imani’s synopsis of Islam’s primitive and barbaric treatment of women:
"Allah directs you in regard of your Children's (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females.... These are settled portions ordained by Allah."
Tabari IX:113
"Allah permits you to shut them in separate rooms and to beat them, but not severely. If they abstain, they have the right to food and clothing. Treat women well for they are like domestic animals and they possess nothing themselves. Allah has made the enjoyment of their bodies lawful in his Qur'an."
Tabari I:280
"Allah said, ‘It is My obligation to make Eve bleed once every month as she made this tree bleed. I must also make Eve stupid, although I created her intelligent.' Because Allah afflicted Eve, all of the women of this world menstruate and are stupid."
* If a Muslim woman is murdered, her beneficiary is entitled to one-half dyyeh-blood money, or compensation-as that of a murdered Muslim male.I especially liked this part: “Allah has made the enjoyment of their bodies lawful in his Qur'an."
* A woman's testimony in the court of law is worth one-half that of a man.
* A woman must provide four witnesses to substantiate her claim of being raped.
* A man can divorce his wife by simply saying to her, "I divorce you," three times.
* A divorced woman is entitled to a miserly compensation and automatically forfeits her rights to her children.
* Women are barred from the lucrative and powerful cast of clergy.
* Husbands are entitled to punish their wives corporally.
* Men are allowed to have four wives at any one time and as many concubines as they desire and can afford.
* Saudi Arabia, the custodian of "true Islam" imposes a raft of restrictions on women such as: women are not allowed to drive; they are not permitted to leave the country without accompaniment or explicit permission of their male kin; they are barred from most government jobs and much much more.
* Among other Muslims, such as the Taliban and the Pashtoon of Afghanistan-Pakistan region, women are barred from education and not even allowed to leave the house unless accompanied by a male kin.
* Since education, particularly professional education is often denied to women in many Islamic societies. There is scarcity of women physicians and male doctors are often forbidden to treat women patients.
Well, gee, dad, thanks for the okay on that one.

Am I insensitive? Am I religiously bigoted? Do I fail to exhibit an appropriate understanding of this part of the Multicultural Rainbow?
You bet yer ass.

Enjoy The Show – Be Prepared To Evacuate
Mozart’s Idomeneo, featuring the severed heads of Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed and Poseidon, is opening in Berlin. The police there will be asking audience members to remove all metal objects, and also to be prepared to evacuate in case of a bomb threat.
The fear is, of course, that outraged Christians, Buddhists and followers of Greek Mythology may be so offended by the severed heads that they may commit some act or threat of violence against the theater and its patrons.
Oh wait, I got that wrong. It’s the followers of the Religion of Peace™ that might be offended. Sorry.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
As one who headed up a project to raise thousands of dollars for the Boxing Day Tsunami relief effort, I found this especially depressing: (hat tip LGF)
In fact, if there’s any bitching to be done by the Left on this issue, it’ll probably be about our own complicity in this. We’ve Oppressed those poor people with our capitalistic fund-giving. And we compounded our eeevil by sending a US aircraft carrier to their paradise to further oppress them with tons of food and tens of thousands of gallons of fresh water.
Yep. We’re bastards. Again.

WHEN people around the world sent millions of pounds to help the stricken Indonesian province of Aceh after the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, few could have imagined that their money would end up subsidising the lashing of women in public. Will we hear complaints about this from the Left? No, of course not. Generally, the Left views beating women as a bad idea – unless it’s conducted by Islamists, which the Left adores. Any enemy of Western Culture in general, or the United States in particular, can do no wrong in the eyes of the Left.
But militant Islamists have since imposed sharia law in Aceh and have cornered Indonesian government funds to organise a moral vigilante force that harasses women and stages frequent displays of humiliation and state-sanctioned violence.
International aid workers and Indonesian women’s organisations are now expressing dismay that the flow of foreign cash for reconstruction has allowed the government to spend scarce money on a new bureaucracy and religious police to enforce puritan laws, such as the compulsory wearing of headscarves.
Some say there are more “sharia police” than regular police on the local government payroll and that many of them are aggressive young men.
“Who are these sharia police?” demanded Nurjannah Ismail, a lecturer at Aceh’s Ar-Raniri University. “They are men who, most of the time, are trying to send the message that their position is higher than women.”
In fact, if there’s any bitching to be done by the Left on this issue, it’ll probably be about our own complicity in this. We’ve Oppressed those poor people with our capitalistic fund-giving. Looks like Castro is on his way down soon.
With fireworks over Havana harbour and the first military parade of this century, hundreds of thousands of Cubans turned out yesterday for Fidel Castro's belated 80th birthday party, but the veteran leader did not appear.I’ve heard on good authority that the wake will be held at JB’s house. I’m thinking of sponsoring a fundraiser for his grief therapy.
No one had said he would, but there had been hints, including one from vice-president Carlos Lage, who said in advance that "we will have him among us" but left it open as to whether he meant yesterday or simply for ever. The Comandante's absence strongly suggested that his illness was serious, possibly even terminal, and that he was unlikely to grasp the reins of power again.

JB Lives!!
Even better, I now know exactly who he is. He prefers to remain safely anonymous so far – so I’ll respect that, considering that it’s now one of the few things about him I can respect at this point. Well, outside his blistering commentary and witty repartee (I especially enjoyed “stupid cocksucker” – there’s some real talent there).
You’ll have to see my response to some of his comments in the individual comments sections, but I thought it's now time for a new post, so I pulled one of his comments and will react here. But I’ll proceed with an understanding that JB is the person (a coworker) I referred to in a prior recent post – I hope that context carries over.
Yep, JB, my side is in the minority. Not particularly happy about it, either. In fact I had a few moments of irritation. What I didn’t do is run for Canada or seek therapy like your comrades did (like that? “comrades”? – make you feel nostalgic? Heh heh). I’m dealing with it, and entertaining myself with the tug and pull of politics as it exists now. Pelosi is an interesting figure, and the dynamic between the moderate Democrats and the anti-American Leftists that form the base of the Party is going to be a slugfest worthy of an HBO special. I’m heating up some popcorn even as I write this.
Unlike some (ahem!) I don’t hate my country when the people make a decision I disagree with. I may fault their decision-making, but I don’t fault the system that empowered them to decide. Neither do I assume they’re just uneducated bumpkins who would really do better under my more learned authoritarian rule (Emperor Ken was always intended as parody). And that’s pretty much the difference between you, dear “JB” and me: The people decide, and that’s what they get to do in this country. I respect that. What I don’t do is run to a judge to force my own will on the people.
Now, about this military issue you have with me. Let’s talk about that for a second. For one thing, your logic is full of – bovine scatology – because there are plenty of people with as much, or more, military service than you have, who agree with my point of view. So, it’d be just as easy for me to say, “military veteran X thinks Y, and I agree with him.” That would then remove your rather bizarre focus on the fact that I’ve never served in the military – unless of course even agreeing with somebody who disagrees with you is also out of bounds in your Robert Heinlein/Starship Troopers view of American politics where only people with a military record have a right to speak.
I’m sorry to disagree with you, but the Nazis lost that war – so the argument for that is just about concluded.
As for, “Did ya get your kids off to see the recruiter yet?” – well, what my kids choose to do with their careers is up to them. Unlike some, I don’t dictate the actions of my children, nor do I try to live my politics through them. That’d be Cindy Sheehan’s shtick. However, my son has expressed an interest in joining the Marines, and should he choose to follow through with that then I will support his decision. And if he joins up I will not insult him by referring to him as my “child” as is so often the shameful case when Democrats want to ape sympathy for our fighting men and women in the field.
Now, do I respect your service to our country? Yep, regardless of my current irritation with you, you will always have been the person who committed four years of your life to protect us. But a different and interesting question is whether you respect your service.
I don’t think you do. At least I don’t think you treat it with respect.
You use your service as a shield against those whose opinions differ from your own. You use your service as a means of trying to silence opposition. To you it’s a tool to “win” an argument, regardless of the inherent lack of merit in your philosophical position. It’s intellectual laziness tinged with rhetorical cowardice.
Somehow you’ve come to the belief that anybody with a military background (like you) is somehow exempt from criticism. Let’s have a look at that belief of yours.
Jack Murtha, Marine Corps: corrupt politician, caught on tape in the ABSCAM investigation, negotiating a payoff. Severely anti-military, including accusing our service people of committing cold-blooded murder prior to a trial.
John F. Kerry, Navy: Met with and attempted negotiations with the enemy during the Vietnam War while a Naval Reserve officer. Under the terms of the UCMJ, that is treason. He vilified our fighting personnel in Vietnam before Congress in 1972, accusing them of several war crimes with falsified evidence provided by people pretending to be veterans.
Lee Harvey Oswald, Marine Corps: Soviet sympathizer and assassin of President John F. Kennedy.
John Anthony Walker Junior, Navy: Spy for the Soviet Union.
Hasan Akbar, Army: Convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of two fellow soldiers in Kuwait during the run up to the 2003 Iraq invasion.
William Calley, Army: Lead the platoon primarily responsible for what became known as the My Lai Massacre, wherein several hundred unarmed Vietnamese civilians were slaughtered.
My point is not to disrespect the military here, but to point out that wearing a uniform, whether in the present or in (as with your case) the distant past, does not immunize one from criticism, and certainly does not exempt one from having to make an argument to support his point of view in the face of opposing viewpoints.
That you attempt to misuse your years of service as a rhetorical condom is shameful and unworthy. And it is a distinct disrespect to far better men than you – including other liberal Democrats – who continue to act honorably and do not attempt to cover their increasingly wide ass with a flag they once defended.
“JB” – you know very little about me. I have many friends who are also liberal veterans. I enjoy discussing politics with them because they are not hate-filled crazies like you’ve become. They disagree with me, take the time to put forward their arguments, and when we end up disagreeing at the end of it all, we’re still friends because we don’t disrespect each others’ intelligence – and rarely call the other a “stupid cocksucker.”
You lost that. And I didn't take that from you.

Enjoy them free pixels in the minority. Did ya get your kids off to see the recruiter yet? I hope you are enjoying your intense feelings of patriotism without having to sacrifice anything but principle. You are a flag-flapping shirker. Pathetic, frankly. JB
